Driving Tips

  • Keep your hands on the steering wheel at 10:00 O'clock and 2:00 O'clock posistion.  Use your head set to talk on your cell phone not your hands.  Keep your calls short and drive extra carefully.  The road belongs to everybody.Common respect makes a good driver.
  • The differance between driving at 65mph and 55mph adds up to about 15 cents per gal. at the pump.

Idling for more than 30 seconds or so wastes fuel and wears the engine more than restarting it.
  • Avoid full-throttle acceleration for the first 1000 miles or so, and vary your speed as much as possible.
  • Wiping a dry windshield can scratch the glass.  And turning on the wipers when they're stuck in ice can burn out the wiper motor.
  • Speeding from stop light to stop light creates a lot of friction.  Heat from this friction causes componets such as brakes to wear out faster than normal.  Try backing off the gas pedal early and time the traffic lights, then ease the brakes on.  This will apply to other driving situations as well.
